Tres Leches Cake

Tres leches cake is a popular Mexican dessert featuring a light sponge cake topped with whipped cream frosting and soaked in a sweet, milky mixture of evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream. The name literally means “three milks”!
To recreate the tres leches (‘three milks’) sauce for our ice cream base, we combine farm-fresh, stabilizer-free cream, organic evaporated milk, and organic sweetened condensed milk. The ‘three milks’ provide the ice cream with a slightly caramelized, rich and sweet milky flavor.
For the tres leches cake, our friends at Blanca Estrada Taqueria serve up tray after tray of the classic fluffy sponge cake topped with a decadent and airy vanilla whipped cream frosting. We chop the cake into bite sized chunks and mix it into our tres leches ice cream base. The result is a perfectly creamy, rich and melt-in-your-mouth rendition of the classic Mexican cake.
