Carolina Reaper Chocolate Chip
In 2013, Guinness World Records declared the Carolina Reaper Pepper, which originated in Fort Mill, SC, the hottest chili pepper in the world. In 2019, Off Track Ice Cream created the Carolina Reaper Chocolate Chip ice cream… our local Lowcountry take on spicy chocolate. We melt Cocoa Academic’s Carolina Reaper Chocolate Bars directly into our ice cream base to create a sweet, milk chocolate base with a savagely spicy after-kick. To cut some of that heat and to add a bit of crunch, we fold in Cocoa Academic’s 60% Chocolate Chips. Cocoa Academic, a local bean to bar chocolate maker located in North Charleston, sources the Carolina Reaper peppers, which they infuse directly into their chocolate bars, from local Dogwood Farms.
